MISSION STATEMENT

The Colonial Forge Clinic's purpose is to monitor the health and well being of the student body and staff and to provide limited medical attention or referrals as necessary. The school nurse provides emergency medical attention to students and staff, examines and assesses the general health care needs of the students and staff, and administers appropriate medication and treatment as prescribed by the individual’s personal physician. Assessing the health care needs of students includes enforcement of immunization laws, screening for scoliosis, screening for vision and hearing impairment, and screening for students in need of dental attention. Clinic personnel monitor and treat medical conditions through physical examination and evaluation of vital signs. The clinic notifies a parent or guardian when a condition is encountered which may indicate the need for further medical attention. The school nurse provides counseling for chronic illness, mental health, nutritional issues, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyles. The nurse works with other school and county officials to identify and eliminate hazards to the health and safety of students and faculty.
